Network Security

Network Security

Point of view

Phishing lures users to a fake websites where attackers make independent connections to the victim’s and bank’s machines and relays messages between them to make them believe they are talking directly to each other over a private connection. Instead the entire conversation is controlled by the man in the middle.

Solution

Hitachi B1&PKI provides defence via a mutual authentication using the exchange of digital signatures this will then defend against man-in-the-middle (MiTM) attacks within the network ensuring that both the bank and the user are properly authenticated.

Expected Business Outcomes

This provides mutual assurance to both users and bank that they are communicating with the correct party.

What is it

Our mutual authentication solution effectively combines technology available within our suite to fight against the Man-in-the-Middle threat.

Why use it

Poor authentication can result in interception, monitoring and fraudulent use of electronic transactions between customer and bank.

Benefits

Provides confidence that even a man-in-the-middle attack cannot prevent the end to end integrity of the signing of the transaction.

Where can it be used?

Any signing scenario using Hitachi Network Protect.
